Carmelo Anthony cracked the top 10 in all-time NBA scoring in style Monday.

The Portland Trail Blazers forward sank a 3-pointer while getting fouled early in the second quarter of a road game against the Atlanta Hawks, moving him past Hall of Famer Elvin Hayes on the career scoring list.

Anthony, who turns 37 later this month, completed the four-point play. He finished the night with 14 points, giving him 27,318 points in his 18-year career.

Hayes compiled 27,313 points in 16 seasons for the San Diego/Houston Rockets and the Baltimore/Washington Bullets.

Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, was the NBA’s scoring champion in 2012-13. He has averaged 23 points over 1,186 games for the Denver Nuggets (2003-04 to 2010-11), the New York Knicks (2010-11 to 2016-17), Oklahoma City Thunder (2017-18), Houston (2018-19) and Portland (2019-20 to 2020-21).

The Hawks beat the Trail Blazers 123-114 on Monday.

Texas linebacker Jake Ehlinger, brother of Sam Ehlinger, found dead

Published

Texas football player Jake Ehlinger was found dead on Thursday by the Austin Police.

Devastating news for the Texas football program, as linebacker Jake Ehlinger was found dead by the Austin Police on Thursday afternoon.

The Austin Police Department received a call on the matter at 12:18 p.m CT. While they did not reveal how they found him, authorities have said his death is not considered suspicious. Ehlinger was the younger brother of Texas football star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend after a stellar career in Austin. What an absolute tragedy.

Our hearts go out to the Ehlinger Family and Longhorn Nation in this time of need.

Texas football: Linebacker Jake Ehlinger has passed away

While this was supposed to be Ehlinger’s third year with the Texas football program, he had yet to appear in a game for the Longhorns. He was entering his redshirt sophomore season as a former two-star recruit out of nearby Westlake High School. With his brother now in the NFL, the younger Ehlinger was slated to finally make his name on the Longhorns football. This is so heartbreaking.

2021 is the first year Steve Sarkisian has taken over the Texas program after having reinvented himself as an offensive coordinator with the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Falcons before that. While he has a ton of work ahead of him in his first year on the job, this is the hardest thing he and his team will have to overcome this offseason. Ehlinger was entering the prime of his life.

May the Ehlinger and Texas football families find peace after this incredibly tragic loss.
