Czech doubles specialist Barbora Strycova, who announced her first pregnancy in March, said Tuesday she was retiring from tennis, hoping for one last game after she gives birth.

Currently ranked second in doubles and 52nd in singles, Strycova, 35, won the Wimbledon doubles title with Hsieh Su-wei in 2019 and reached the singles semifinal there the same year, her best Grand Slam results ever.

“I want to play one more game with an audience,” the former world number one-ranked doubles player told reporters in Prague.

“I’m bidding farewell to my career and I don’t expect to get back to the tour, but I would like to say goodbye to the fans,” said Strycova who has her eyes on a farewell trip to the All England Club in 2022.

“Wimbledon would be a dream, but if it doesn’t work out, I’ll do something here in the Czech Republic,” she said.

Strycova, who last played at the Australian Open in January, has won two singles titles, reaching a career high ranking of 16, as well as 31 doubles WTA trophies overall. She also won the bronze in women’s doubles with Lucie Safarova at the 2016 Olympics at Rio.

“I have always given my very best. I have never given up and that’s what matters most,” Strycova said looking back at her career.

Texas linebacker Jake Ehlinger, brother of Sam Ehlinger, found dead

Texas football player Jake Ehlinger was found dead on Thursday by the Austin Police.

Devastating news for the Texas football program, as linebacker Jake Ehlinger was found dead by the Austin Police on Thursday afternoon.

The Austin Police Department received a call on the matter at 12:18 p.m CT. While they did not reveal how they found him, authorities have said his death is not considered suspicious. Ehlinger was the younger brother of Texas football star quarterback Sam Ehlinger, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend after a stellar career in Austin. What an absolute tragedy.

Our hearts go out to the Ehlinger Family and Longhorn Nation in this time of need.

Texas football: Linebacker Jake Ehlinger has passed away

While this was supposed to be Ehlinger’s third year with the Texas football program, he had yet to appear in a game for the Longhorns. He was entering his redshirt sophomore season as a former two-star recruit out of nearby Westlake High School. With his brother now in the NFL, the younger Ehlinger was slated to finally make his name on the Longhorns football. This is so heartbreaking.

2021 is the first year Steve Sarkisian has taken over the Texas program after having reinvented himself as an offensive coordinator with the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Falcons before that. While he has a ton of work ahead of him in his first year on the job, this is the hardest thing he and his team will have to overcome this offseason. Ehlinger was entering the prime of his life.

May the Ehlinger and Texas football families find peace after this incredibly tragic loss.
