Nordstrom and H&M Both Have Solid Trend Sections—These Items Are Worth It

Published

on

When I’m shopping some of my go-to stores either for my personal wardrobe or as I’m doing market research for various stories, I typically hit up the new arrivals and sale sections first. In addition, many retailers like Nordstrom and H&M also have “trend” sections. These curations are special because they focus specifically on those more trend-forward items that feel particularly relevant for the season.

To showcase some of the top-notch finds, I scrolled through the trend sections at Nordstrom (called “Topshop & Trend”) and H&M (the “Trend Edit”) and pulled out the pieces that could be worth it if you’re shopping at the moment. Here, I’m talking about items like modern blazers, versatile tees, cute dresses, adorable shoe silhouettes, and chic layering pieces. With all that in mind, keep scrolling for more.

I Haven’t Worn a Bra in Years—Here’s What I Wear Instead

Published

on

When I turned 13 (and finally started to go through puberty), all I wanted was to start wearing a bra. By the time I was 14, all I wanted was to stop wearing a bra. I had quickly learned what most of us already know—that bras are typically uncomfortable, rigid, and cut into your under-boob area. The most relieving part of my day was when I finally got home and could peel off my bra. So I soon decided to stop wearing bras altogether.

That brought challenges, however, as I wasn’t yet entirely comfortable with the idea of going braless. So I decided to dip my toes in the water by rotating through several bra alternatives—all of which were certainly more comfortable than my go-to underwire bra. If you, too, want to forgo bras, keep scrolling to find some excellent tops and bra-style pieces that have kept my ladies (and me) happy throughout the years.

I Guess Thong Bikinis Are Becoming a Mainstream Trend

Published

on

I should clarify we’re not only talking about bikinis here. Oh, yes, there’s the thong one-piece. We thought one-pieces were safe territory for full-coverage, but the thong trend does not turn the other cheek (sorry) with regards to any form of swimwear. In fact, there’s quite a range of ways to get the look, from a classic thong to a Brazilian tanga to the cheeky bottoms that’ve been stretched to their limits into an impressive wedgie. We generally seem to have drawn the line before straight G-strings, which I feel pretty good about. But don’t take my word for it; keep scrolling to see how the thong has taken over, and shop the barely there bikinis favored by Instagram’s elite.

The “Make-Under” Look Matters for Spring—I’ll Explain With These 7 Outfits

Published

on

The fashion pendulum is swinging heavily towards a more pared-down approach to dressing this season. Sure, the art of maximalism remains relevant, but there’s an overarching sense of bringing it back to the basics for spring with the evolution of wearable pieces throughout the S/S 21 collections (noting trends like reimagined trench coats and modern denim). And thus, the notion of a “make-under” enters the spotlight.

I interrupt a “make-under” as a concept that applies strictly to fashion with an emphasis on uncomplicated outfits that are easy to put together with simple, no-fuss pieces. Essentially, effortless and straightforward ensembles that can actually work within a range of people’s day-to-day life. Think classic crew-neck sweaters, straight-leg jeans, slouchy blazers, and flat boots.

To showcase this vibe a bit further, I rounded up a bit of visual inspiration below that showcases this more accessible way of dressing. And while you probably own many of the general items that make up each of the fits below, I also shopped out iterations for each just in case you’re looking to add a few more pieces into your offering.
