Rosie O’Donnell talks about the time she spoiled the ending of ‘Fight Club’: ‘I had no idea that I had even done it’

Rosie O’Donnell broke the first rule of Fight Club, which — as fans of the 1999 movie of the same name know — is that you do not talk about Fight Club.

It happened in October of that year, as she delivered a negative review of the David Fincher film on her highly rated talk show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, after watching an earlier screener. It wasn’t so much that she disliked it, but that she compared it to The Sixth Sense, which was also in theaters at the time and also had a twist ending.

People were unhappy, but she didn’t realize it for a while in a pre-Twitter age.

“So, apparently, I was loathed by the men in that, possibly still, but I had no idea that I had even done it,” O’Donnell said Tuesday on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, when she was asked about the situation.

But she didn’t know it for a while.

“Nobody said jack shit to me for a good three years, maybe even four years — and I knew Courtney Love. She says, on my show, she says to me, ‘Oh my god… Ed Norton and Brad Pitt, they’re so mad at you for what you did,'” O’Donnell said. “I was like, ‘What did I do?’ It was three years later! She says, ‘You ruined the Fight Club ending.’ I only found it out a long time after the incident.”

Even then, O’Donnell was skeptical.

“When Courtney Love said that to me, I thought, ‘She’s lost her mind. She’s out there still. You know, what’s wrong with her? She’s not… What is she talking [about]? Ed Norton is mad at me? Is she out of her mind?’ And, apparently, it’s true.”

O’Donnell said she still gets questions from fans on the internet about whether she had intended to upset people, but she insisted that she had just been “blabbering.”

“I guess I ruined it for the people who were, you know, who had worked so hard on it, and I should be more careful with what I say in a negative way about a movie,” she said. “You know, if you don’t like it, just don’t mention it. You know? That sort of would have worked better.”

O’Donnell didn’t care for the movie at the time — “I didn’t think it was good” — but she actually has little memory of it all now. At first, she couldn’t recall who’d co-starred alongside Norton.

Speaking of which, she said she thinks that he’s past it now.

“He’s done my radio show since,” she said, “so he must have forgiven me.”

Norton did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

As Travolta wrote in the caption, Preston was “very proud of it and of all of the wonderful talent that she got to work with in it.”

“A dying wish from their best friend, Anna (Andrea Corr), compels Cassie (Kelly Preston), Kate (Jenny Seagrove) and Liz (Sally Phillips) to put old feuds aside and take her 17-year-old daughter on an inter-railing journey across Europe that they did not quite finish during their studies,” the film’s synopsis explains.

“Now in their 50s, they are older but not necessarily wiser. With some bad luck, train strikes, and romantic entanglements thrown in their way, the trip promises as many laughs and tears and self-discovery as the first time around. The question is: will they reach their destination in time to honour their friend’s memory?”

Thomas Markle threatens to take daughter Meghan to court

The Duchess of Sussex’s father has threatened to take her to court to see his grandchildren.

Duchess of Sussex

Thomas Markle hasn’t seen his daughter Meghan since before her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018 and he’s ready to take drastic action “in the very near future” in order to meet their kids Archie, two, and Lili, seven weeks.

He told Fox News: “We shouldn’t be punishing [Lili] for Meghan and Harry’s bad behaviour.

“Archie and Lili are small children. They’re not politics. They’re not pawns. They’re not part of the game. And they’re also royal and entitled to the same rights as any other royal…

“I will be petitioning the California courts for the rights to see my grandchildren in the very near future.”

The retired lighting director also mocked Harry’s recent announcement that he’ll release his memoir next year, insisting that “after three sessions with the psychiatrists and Oprah Winfrey”, the prince wouldn’t “have too much more to tell.”

Thomas previously revealed he only discovered he had become a grandfather again when he heard the news “on the radio”.

He said: “I haven’t spoken to her [Meghan] since two days before they got married … no phone calls, I just heard it on the radio…

“I’ll be very disappointed that I don’t get to hold my granddaughter.”

Thomas is still bemused as to why Meghan, 39, decided to cut off all contact with him.

Although the proud father accepts he made an error of judgment when he staged paparazzi photos of himself getting a suit and shopping before the nuptials in May 2018, he insists he has done nothing so bad that Meghan should choose to be completely estranged from him.

He said: “I’ve made mistakes. I apologised a hundred times for it … If I had done something terribly wrong, that would be fine, but I haven’t.”

Polk County Sheriff arrests 29 drug dealers, rocks their gold chains: ‘We got your gold’

The Polk County Sheriff is going viral after he donned gold chains owned by drug dealers who are now in the county jail.

Sheriff Grady Judd held a press conference this week to announce the arrests of 32 people connected to a drug trafficking operation.

Authorities seized narcotics with a street value of $283,000, $88,000 in cash, and $89,000 worth of jewelry in the sting operation that spanned 16 months.

Judd said law enforcement arrested 29 drug traffickers and issued arrest warrants for three others who are still at large.

“You can go ahead and turn yourself in or you can go to jail tired from running, but you’re gonna go to jail,” Sheriff Judd said, referring to the three fugitives.

Judd picked up several gold chains and wore them around is neck while taunting the jailed drug dealers.

“That’s right, they thought they were cool. How cool are you today?” He said, while holding mugshots of two of the dealers.

“Can y’all make up a rap song about this? Well, I’ll help you out. You see, we got your gold. We put your tail in the county jail. Think about that, brothas.”
